The Trauma chapter provides an in-depth look at trauma’s multifaceted impact on children, especially those with developmental disabilities. Topics range from early attachment issues and trauma-informed cultural considerations to the effects of trauma on the brain and intergenerational inheritance. Medical and therapeutic approaches are explored, including comprehensive treatment needs assessments, expressive arts, and culturally tailored interventions. This chapter equips allied and medical professionals with tools for trauma-informed care, culminating in a case study for real-world application.
